Meet the Staff (2019/2020)

Kate Cooper-Martin:Director

Kate started as a local member of Performance Arts Foundation in 2004 as a sophomore in high school.  Kate taught several years from 2007-2015, before assuming the role as Co-Director of Performance Arts Foundation’s, ICT Independent Winterguard. This will be Kate’s fifth year directing ICT Independent. Kate has a background in Colorguard, Winterguard, and Drum Corps, including placing first in MCCGA in 2007 in the Independent A Class as a part of Sky Ryders Winterguard, and in 2010 placing first in MCCGA, and a WGI Finalist in Dayton, Ohio in the Independent Open Class, as a part of the Pride of Missouri State. Kate instructed and choreographed for two different High School Colorguard’s, Andover High School and Valley Center High School, between 2007-2016. Kate marched three years with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, placing as a finalist three years in a row.  Kate has a passion for seeing young people grow and succeed in both her personal and professional life as a local School Social Worker.


Samantha Paulsen: Director

Samantha began her journey in the marching arts in high school and joined Performance Arts Foundation’s competitive group in 2007 as a performer for PAFI. She spent 1 season as a performing member of PAFI and 3 seasons as a performing member of eXpressions winterguard. Samantha started teaching right out of high school as a tech for Andover High School and went on to spend 7 years teaching colorguard at Valley Center High School before spending 2015 as a weapons tech for eXpressions winterguard. Following that season, Samantha took on the position of Director of ICT Independent. This will be her 5th season as director of the group and vice president of the organization. Samantha loves the activity and has a passion for helping those she teaches, and watching them grow in every aspect of their lives.


Brittney Bailey: Choreography/Design Staff

Brittney started her passion for Colorguard as a sophomore at Maize High School. Upon her graduation in 2013, she joined Performance Arts Foundation’s eXpressions Winterguard. Two years later, in the summer of 2015, she went on tour with Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps. Following that, Brittney became the first age-out of Performance Arts Foundation’s ICT Independent Winterguard in 2016. Since 2013 Brittney has been a colorguard instructor at many Wichita area schools with her most recent position being at Maize South High School. Following her final performance season with ICT Independent, Brittney immediately came back as support staff for the following season. Brittney loves to share her sport with others and hopes to instill the same passion for the activity in her students. When she is not working as a para-educator for special needs students you will most likely find her spinning or crafting and hanging out with her dogs!


Kaitlyn Frangenberg: Choreography/Weapons Instructor

Kaitlyn was a member of the Bishop Carroll High school colorguard for four years in high school. Kaitlyn also completed four years on eXpressions Winterguard, competing in the WGPO and MCCGA circuits. Upon graduation from high school, Kaitlyn attended Missouri State University for four years completing a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, while spinning with the Missouri State Pride Marching Band colorguard. During her time with the colorguard, Kaitlyn performed at Disney World, multiple Bands Across America events, and Silver Dollar City. Kaitlyn spent two years marching with National Avenue Winterguard at MSU, performing in WGI Finals and semi-finals, as well as taking gold in MCCGA two years. She then spent two years on the Pride of Missouri State. Kaitlyn has been a colorguard coach for three years: two years with Marshfield High School and currently as the head coach for Bishop Carroll. Outside of coaching, Kaitlyn is a preschool teacher for Child Start in Wichita.
